As we continue through November, two events give us reason to pause and ponder  — remembrance day and Movember. Remembering the friends, brothers, fathers and sons we have lost is a sobering experience. Those of us that remain relive stories that involve our brothers passed, never forgetting the mischief and joy. We cherish these memories above all else and wish we could make more. But we can’t. Instead, we accept this painful truth and strive towards a world where ‘he died too young’ is not part of our vocabulary.

Thats why, I am raising money for Movember, a charity that supports men during the most difficult times in their life — cancer and suicide prevention. This is my first time 'movembering' after some friends (mainly Alex Jopling), encouraged me to take part.

By raising money, I am honouring two friends..

We lost Zach to cancer

We lost Andy to suicide.

The more money we can raise, the less friends we lose.

By temporarily losing my beard (kind of a big deal for a baldie) and only growing a moustache, I am seeking donations to support this brilliant charity which supports my friends and yours in their time of need.

After Zach passed away, I had the privilege of being one of two friends that gave Zach’s eulogy, this is the prayer that I finished with:

REMEMBERED JOY

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!

I follow the plan God laid for me.

I saw His face, I heard His call,

I took His hand and left it all..

I could not stay another day,

To love, to laugh, to work or play;

Tasks left undone must stay that way.

And if my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...

Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.

My life's been full, I've savoured much:

Good times, good friends, A loved-one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief-

Don't shorten yours with undue grief.

Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,

Enjoy the sunshine of tomorrow.
