Mission and vision go hand in glove

Visualising the impact we want to make in the world is awesome! Our vision needs a mission - this is the spirit that carries us and our comrades down the river towards our vision. These may sound like esoteric concepts but they're not. We are all called to imagine a better world and create a plan to make it happen, then invite others to join us. It is enough to embody this within your own family or community; it will scale naturally. The opposite to this is counting and selling widgets or similar. A self inflicted and soul damaging experience where one simply cares for the accumulation of stuff or the growth of ego. The golden handcuffs, if you will.

A vision is something that is deeply personal, it's Simon’s Squib’s "what's your dream?" Once you know what your dream or vision is, then it's time to work on your mission.

Mission must be shared, it needs to be bigger and higher than the individual. It must bring out the best in you, your clan or team. It should be felt, known and lived. The foundations and core of everything we do. It should outlive us. It would be wise to write it down and empower any person who joins you on your mission to hold you to these values and vice versa.

Elate’s vision and mission

Our vision with Elate is to make care easier to deliver, more personalised, and empowering for all. Elate's mission is to empower people to live with grace, joy and dignity.

This mission was discovered by our founding team. We aim to embody it every day with each other, our clients, their clients and our partners. It gives us something bigger and higher than ourselves to aim for and holds us to account. It's hard to measure on a spreadsheet or on a business plan but it is given and received every day, in the hard times and the good.

Grace is unconditional love demonstrated by God. The love that is there when we need it most, even when it's difficult to give or to receive. Giving ourselves and each other grace is a wonderful act of kindness.

Joy is another shared experience that we all know and love. Joy can even be found before, during or after the depths of despair. Joy is so sweet because it contrasts with sadness. Joy is us rejoicing in each other's success.

Dignity or the lack of it is something that is foreign concept to many of us when we become independent adults. However, this is not a given for all. The strength of our community is how well we help the vulnerable people in our society maintain their dignity. Those of us that work in the care sector or have loved ones who need support understand how important this virtue is to uphold.

Elate’s mission to empower people to live with grace, joy and dignity is eternally bound to our name. Every time we elevate people to live with grace, joy and dignity, we are Elated. Hence, the name. Indeed, our brand and logo embodies this elation, either in a helping hand or a rising dove.

Our mission has been our steady raft that has kept us afloat and moving forward despite the storms that we’ve gone through. After the storms clear, the sun shines on us and we feel that deep gratitude that we have real meaning to our lives, that the pain was worth it, to know that we are empowering people to live with grace, joy and dignity.
